Welcome to a new section of the Millennium Project.

This site has received numerous emails from people attempting to trace their family roots over the years, and there has never been a dedicated page for them - until now!

This is YOUR page, and I would like to invite anyone with Kettlebaston connections to submit your own material. This can include your email address, links to your own website, and (hopefully) a 'potted' family history for each family line.

Future projects involve mapping and photographing the churchyard for the remote viewing of gravestones - watch this space!

To start the ball rolling please contact me via the following link ......

...... and don't forget to visit our moderated Visitors Book which allows you to communicate with other village-related folk!

Finally, there's an appeal at the foot of this page regarding current research into my own family tree. If your surname is Noel, Disdel (aka Disdell) or Klesel please take a look and see if we share an Australian connection!

Lost Relations:

As part of my own family search, an appeal to families named Noel / Disdel / Disdell / Klesel

I am keen to trace some lost relations who may not even be aware that my branch of the family exists. Firstly, the background:

I'm searching for the 20th century descendants of Thomas Noel (born 1861, Dover, England) and his wife Elizabeth (aka Eliza, nee Donohue) married in Jullundur, India, 18th Apr 1853. Eliza was previously married to John Leach (Pay Master Sergeant with the 60th) who died in Jullundur on 22nd June 1852, aged 32. Their two living children were John Henry Noel (b1854, Jullundur - my line) and Charles Noel (b1861, Dover, Kent - the missing line).

I'd previously found two potential marriages for Charles - Charlotte Frere in 1897 (who is still considered a possibility, but I can't pin down the details - possibly due to another foreign tour with the British army, which began the same year) and Kate Bishop in 1910 (although there's a slight query re this particular record). Anyhow, I've now confirmed that the latter did marry as they're in the 1911 census as living at 113 Roydene Road, Plumstead - married ten years (there's the query) with one child - Gertrude Kate Noel, born q4 1907! I'm sure it's my man, as his place of birth is given as Dover 1861, his occupation being "Examiner, Royal Arsenal". Charles died around 1927. Thanks to newly available electoral records, Kate went on to live at 17 Cardiff Street, Plumstead in 1929, 5a Loxton Road, Lewisham in 1933, and 253 Devonshire Road, Lewisham in 1946 - where Kate is shown living with daughter Gertrude and her new husband, Frederick Guy Disdel. Kate died in q4 the same year, aged 74 - Lewisham.

Two years later, Frederick & Gertrude emigrated to Melbourne from London on the RMS Ormonde (Orient Line ) on 21.05.1948 with their daughter ("B. E." aged 10 years) - old address 298 Devonshire Road, Honour Oak Park, SE23. We can track them for a number of years, their address in 1963 being 22 Blue Hills Avenue, Mt Waverley. Frederick died in 1966 (Gertrude in 1974). We also get to learn the daughter's name through electoral registers - Brenda E. Disdel

Between 1968 and 1972 her surname seems to change from Disdel to Klesel (Roots Chat) when she's now living next door at 20 Blue Hills Avenue. Official records become very scarce owing to data protection from this point, but it appears that she married a Gunther K. (Kurt?) Klesel - an Austrian. It also appears that they had at least one child, Renate, in 1968. Whether they remained in Australia is currently unclear, but we do at least now know that there's another living, closely related, line to our tree.

If you know, or knew, Gunther, Brenda, Renate and any other descendants I'd really appreciate an email - just click the Yellow Peril link below.

Since they may hold more information, I would also be interested in hearing from the family of Edith Emma Disdel (Frederick Guy Disdel's older sister), born in Limehouse, London, in 1895, married George Walker Gleeson in Lewisham q4 1918, and emigrated to Australia prior to Frederick & Gertrude. They died in East Malvern, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia in 1969 & 1970 respectively.

Thank you for taking the trouble to read this request!
